At Rishikesh Yog Nirvana, the 500-hour yoga teacher training course follows a step-by-step, disciplined path. The first 25 days cover the 200-hour foundation module. This makes the course open to beginners who have never done formal yoga training. Then you move on to the 300-hour module. As both modules run back to back, you absorb more and your teaching skills grow at a steady pace.
Why Choose Rishikesh Yog Nirvana- Yoga teacher training School
Choosing the right yoga school is one of the biggest choices in a 500-hour yoga teacher training journey. At Rishikesh Yog Nirvana, this is a full, disciplined and well-planned course. It supports long-term growth in both your own yoga and your teaching.

Integrated 200 Hour + 300 Hour Training Structure

We do not treat the two levels as separate courses. Instead, the syllabus aims to:
- Build strong foundations first.
- Gradually introduce advanced concepts.
- Strengthen consistency in practice.
- Improve retention and application of knowledge.
This leads to deeper learning and a smooth step up to advanced teaching skills.
Experienced & Dedicated Yoga Teachers
At Rishikesh Yog Nirvana you learn from certified yoga teachers with years of classic study and teaching behind them. They bring all of this into the classroom. Each teacher has a special focus, such as:

One key strength of this training is its balance. Equal weight is given to:
- Physical practice (asana, alignment, sequencing)
- Theoretical understanding (philosophy, anatomy, yogic texts)
- Teaching methodology (cueing, class design, communication)
You learn what you teach, why you teach it and how to teach it with care. This makes your step from student to teacher both confident and grounded.

500 Hour Yoga Syllabus
Our syllabus guides you through learning stages, one step at a time. You build your own yoga while you gain the skills you need to teach. The course is split into two modules. This keeps the training clear, linked and deep from start to end.
200 Hour Module – Foundational Yoga Studies
The 200 Hour module builds a strong base in yoga practice, theory and basic teaching skills. In this phase you learn the core yogic principles and form steady practice habits.
Key areas covered in this module include:
- Core Hatha Yoga asana practice with attention to alignment.
- Introduction to Ashtanga yoga and Vinyasa primary series.
- Standing, seated, balancing, and restorative postures.
- Breathing methods and classical pranayama techniques.
- Introduction to meditation and mindfulness.
- Study of Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Yamas, and Niyamas.

- Teaching basics, including sequencing and cueing.
- Yoga nidra and guided relaxation for awareness and rest.
This module gives you the core knowledge you need to move with confidence into advanced training.
300 Hour Module – Advanced Yoga Studies
The 300 Hour module builds on your base knowledge. It focuses on refining, applying and exploring yoga practice and teaching in more depth. This phase stresses clarity, confidence and care in teaching.
Advanced study components include:
- Longer Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and structured transitions.
- Advanced pranayama and breath control.
- More meditation techniques and awareness training.
- In depth study of yogic philosophy and classical texts.
- Advanced anatomy with focus on joint mechanics and injury prevention.
- Refining your teaching skills, including adjustments and class management.
- Reiki healing and awareness of Reiki healing courses as complementary learning.
- Sound healing, mantra chanting and vibration practices.
- Restorative yoga, kundalini yoga and Yin Yoga practices for recovery and balance.
This module helps you build a mature and well rounded way of teaching.
Teaching Practice, Practicum & Assessment
Teaching practice runs through the whole training. It grows more intense in the advanced module. You are guided step by step, from watching others to teaching on your own under supervision.
- Supervised teaching practicums.
- Peer teaching and group sessions.
- Verbal instruction and cueing practice.
- Observation, correction, and feedback sessions.
- Final teaching assessment and evaluation.
This practicum makes sure you are ready to teach safely and with confidence.
Syllabus Standards & Certification Alignment
The syllabus follows Yoga Alliance USA guidelines. It meets all study and practical needs for RYT 500 certification.
- Required contact and non contact training hours.
- Balanced coverage of practice, theory, and teaching.
- Ongoing assessment through the course.
- Eligibility for your certificate once you complete the course.
This full syllabus gives you a complete education. It supports your personal growth and gets you ready to teach.
Complementary Practices in the 500-Hour Programme
The 500-hour training goes beyond asana and teaching skills. Advanced students need to see yoga as one linked system. In it, physical yoga, energy anatomy, diet and healing uses all support each other. These added modules give your teaching a depth that sets you apart from teachers with only basic training.
Ayurvedic Principles & Yogic Lifestyle
Ayurveda and yoga are sister sciences. They have been used together in India for thousands of years. In the 500-hour course, you study the core ideas of Ayurveda that shape how you practise and teach yoga.
- Tridosha theory — the Vata, Pitta and Kapha body types, and how each one responds to asana, pranayama and meditation.
- Sattvic diet principles — how the ashram meals in Tapovan follow Ayurvedic nutrition to support your yoga, a clear mind and good digestion.
- Daily routines (Dinacharya) — classic Ayurvedic morning and evening habits built into ashram life: tongue scraping, oil pulling, nasal cleansing and mindful eating.
- Seasonal practice adaptation — how to change yoga sequences, pranayama strength and food choices to suit the season and each body type.
This is not a full Ayurveda certificate. It is a practical introduction. It helps you make wise lifestyle choices and adapt classes to each dosha for your future students. The Himalayan setting and classic ashram meals in Rishikesh make these ideas real, not just theory.
Subtle Body Anatomy — Chakras, Nadis & Prana
The 200-hour module covers physical anatomy (musculoskeletal system). The advanced 300-hour module within the 500-hour course then introduces the pranic body. This is the energy anatomy that classical yoga texts describe in detail.
- The 7 major chakras — where each one sits, its qualities, signs of imbalance, and how certain asanas, pranayama and meditations wake up or balance each energy centre.
- Nadi system — Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna (the three main energy channels) and their role in pranayama such as Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing)
- Pancha Prana & Pancha Kosha — the five pranas (Prana, Apana, Samana, Udana, Vyana) and the five sheaths (Annamaya through Anandamaya Kosha) as maps for knowing the whole human being beyond the physical body.
- Kundalini awareness — a basic grasp of the dormant energy at the base of the spine and its link to advanced pranayama and meditation. You also learn to teach these ideas in a safe, responsible way, as they should never be trivialised.
You study subtle body anatomy in Rishikesh, close to the Ganga, the Himalayas and a living ashram tradition. This gives these ideas a depth that a textbook alone cannot give. Our philosophy teachers include Swami Shivabrahmananda Saraswati (Arsha Vidya Peetham lineage). They teach from direct experience, not just book knowledge.
Introduction to Yoga Therapy Applications
Yoga therapy is a growing field. It applies yoga methods to specific health conditions and personal needs. The 500-hour course introduces its core principles. This way you can safely adapt your teaching for students with common conditions.
- Back pain & spinal conditions — lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis and disc issues. Learn which asanas help, which to avoid, and how to cue safely for students with chronic back pain.
- Joint mobility & arthritis — gentle sequences for knees, hips and shoulders. You learn the role of synovial fluid in joint health, and when movement helps and when rest is needed.
- Stress, anxiety & mental health — pranayama to calm the nervous system (vagus nerve activation) and restorative yoga sequencing. You also use Yoga Nidra as a healing tool for insomnia and PTSD recovery.
- Prenatal & postnatal modifications — trimester-appropriate asana modifications, contraindicated postures, pelvic floor awareness, and breathwork for labour preparation.
- Senior & limited-mobility students — chair yoga, balance and fall-prevention sequences, and the ethical duty to know your scope of practice.
This module does not certify you as a yoga therapist. That needs separate, specialised training. What it does give you is the awareness, words and skills to adapt poses. You can then teach all kinds of people with care. Many of our RYT 500 graduates go on to formal yoga therapy certification (C-IAYT). They use this base as their starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions About 500-Hour YTT
Common questions about our 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh. They cover who can join, the course plan, the certificate, fees and careers.
Who Should Join the 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
The 500-hour course is the deepest training we offer. It gives you 56 days of nonstop practice, study and change. It is made for a certain kind of committed student. If any of the lines below describe you, this is your path.
Complete Beginners Wanting the Full Certification
You have never done formal yoga training but want to go all the way. You want to go from absolute beginner to RYT 500 in one deep stay. With this format you start from the basics and move smoothly into advanced practice. There are no breaks, no second sign-up and no repeated content. By day 56, you hold the highest Yoga Alliance teaching credential available.
Experienced Practitioners Ready for Mastery
You have been practising yoga seriously for years (perhaps teaching informally). Now you want the depth, structure and globally recognised credential to match your commitment. The 500-hour course takes you well beyond a standard 200-hour course. It gives you advanced anatomy, philosophy (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Samkhya), pranayama retention techniques and mastery-level teaching skills.
Career Changers Making a Full Commitment
You are leaving a corporate career, taking a sabbatical, or making a big life change. You do not want to split the training across two trips to Rishikesh. You want to invest 8 weeks once and leave fully qualified. The 500-hour course is the fastest path to RYT 500. It means one enrolment, one stay at the ashram in Tapovan and one graduation with the highest credential.
International Students Maximising Their India Trip
You are travelling to India just for yoga education and want to make the most of your time. You could do 200 hours now and return later for 300 hours. But that means two flights, two visas and two periods of adjustment. The 500-hour course completes it all in one 56-day stay in Rishikesh. Students from over 40 countries have taken this path at our Tapovan ashram.
Future Yoga School Owners & Lead Trainers
You plan to open your own yoga studio, run retreats, or one day lead your own teacher trainings. Yoga Alliance requires E-RYT 500 status to become a lead trainer. This course gives you the 500 hours of education you need. Add teaching experience after you graduate, and you will qualify to train the next generation of yoga teachers under your own brand.
Yoga Therapists & Wellness Professionals
You work in physiotherapy, mental health, Ayurveda or holistic wellness. You want advanced yoga knowledge to add to the skills you have. The 500-hour syllabus covers anatomy in depth, therapeutic modifications, breath science and meditation techniques. It also gives you the philosophy you need to bring yoga into clinical or wellness settings in a real way.
What's Included in the 500-Hour Course Fee
The fee covers your whole 56-day stay at our Tapovan ashram: your room, meals, training, materials, trips and certificate. There are no hidden charges.
What the Fee Covers
- 56 days of yoga teacher training, with the 200-hour and 300-hour modules taught back to back.
- A shared or private ashram room in Tapovan for the full 8 weeks.
- Three freshly prepared vegetarian sattvic meals daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- All course materials, manuals, anatomy handouts, philosophy readers, and study resources.
- Yoga Alliance-aligned 500-hour certificate on successful completion (qualifies for RYT 500)
- Weekend excursions — Ganga riverbank walks, Himalayan waterfalls, temple visits, evening Ganga Aarti.
- Free airport pickup from Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport on arrival day.
- Wi-Fi, filtered drinking water, herbal teas and laundry.

- Personal expenses, meals out, or a longer stay beyond the course dates.
- Standard Tourist Visa fee (required for 56-day stay, e-Visa not sufficient)

Why the 500-Hour Programme Is Better Value
Taking the 200-hour ($899) and 300-hour ($999) apart costs $1,898. That is about the same as the integrated 500-hour course at $1,899. Where you really save is on the journey: no second flight, no second visa and no second period of adjustment. Even more, 56 days in a row of deep study gives deeper learning than two trips months or years apart.
Career Paths After Your 500-Hour Certification
RYT 500 is the highest Yoga Alliance teaching credential. It opens every door in the yoga world, from studio teaching to running your own teacher trainings. Here are the career paths our graduates follow.
Senior Studio Teacher
Yoga studios worldwide prefer RYT 500 holders for senior and lead teaching roles. You can teach all levels (beginner through advanced) and charge higher rates than RYT 200 teachers. RYT 500 teachers earn about $50–$120 per class on average, based on location and experience.
International Retreat Leader

How to Reach Our Yoga School in Rishikesh
Rishikesh Yog Nirvana is in Tapovan, a peaceful area above the Ganges in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Serious yoga students prefer Tapovan. It is quieter than Laxman Jhula and ringed by Himalayan forest. It is ideal for an 8-week deep stay.
By Air — Dehradun Airport
Fly to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (DED), 35 km from Tapovan. It is about 45 minutes by taxi. Direct flights link Dehradun to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata. Or fly into Delhi (DEL) and take a 5–6 hour drive through the Himalayan foothills. The school arranges complimentary airport pickup from Dehradun on batch start day.
By Train — Haridwar Junction
Haridwar Junction (HW) is the nearest major railway station, 25 km south. Direct trains link it to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi. From Haridwar, shared taxis reach Tapovan in 40–50 minutes. The Rishikesh station (RKSH) is closer but has fewer connections. Haridwar is the practical choice.
Visa for 56-Day Stay
The 500-hour course runs for 56 days. That is longer than the 30-day e-Visa allows. Apply for a standard Tourist Visa (90-day or longer) at your nearest Indian embassy at least 6 weeks before arrival. Select "Recreation/Yoga" as your purpose of visit. The school gives you an admission letter when you book, to support your application.
About Tapovan, Rishikesh
Tapovan is a quiet area uphill from the Ganges, about 3 km north of Laxman Jhula. It is calmer than the busy tourist parts of Rishikesh. This calm, focused setting is ideal for an 8-week deep course. The area has organic cafes, Ayurvedic shops and well-known yoga schools. Morning walks by the Ganga, evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat and weekend trips to Himalayan waterfalls are all part of Tapovan life. For 500-hour students who spend nearly two months in Rishikesh, Tapovan becomes home. Many graduates call it the most life-changing 56 days of their lives.

"I had an absolutely transformative and enriching experience at Rishikesh Yog Nirvana, where I completed my 200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training Course in February 2026. From the very first day, the atmosphere felt serene, harmonious, and deeply rejuvenating. A special mention to Sajan Sir, Manish, and Varsha Ma'am — exceptionally skilled, compassionate, and inspiring teachers. They don't just teach yoga postures; they beautifully impart its philosophy, discipline, and lifestyle with remarkable clarity. What truly sets RYN apart is the genuine care and warmth extended by every team member."

"I completed my 300-hour YTTC in Yog Nirvana, and it was truly an incredible experience. This was already my third time in Rishikesh, and somehow my expectations keep getting higher each time, yet this school exceeded them all. Sajan is deeply inspiring, Manish is like a machine when it comes to asana practice, Pradeep explains anatomy with true brilliance, and Deepa brings both kindness and efficiency to her teaching. What truly makes this school stand out is its energy. There is discipline, but it is beautifully balanced with kindness, warmth, and a genuine sense of community. It really feels like a family."

During the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, I had the opportunity to rebuild my lifestyle by developing new habits and gaining a deeper understanding of what Yoga truly is. The Yoga Philosophy classes were especially transformative — Sajan Sir's detailed explanations helped me understand how to live Yoga and apply yogic philosophy in daily life. The Ashtanga Flow classes helped me build discipline, strength, and consistency while deepening my understanding of the connection between breath and movement."
