Who Should Join This 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
This programme is not limited to people who want to become full-time yoga teachers. It serves anyone seeking structured, authentic yoga education with depth and discipline. Here are the student profiles we most commonly welcome.
Complete Beginners
You have practised yoga casually in studios or at home but have never studied it formally. You want a structured foundation covering asana, philosophy, breathing, and meditation from the ground up. The 200-hour programme is specifically designed to take you from curious practitioner to confident, knowledgeable yogi — no prior teaching experience required.
Experienced Practitioners Seeking Depth
You have been practising yoga regularly for years but feel you have plateaued. You understand the physical postures well but want to understand the why — the philosophy, the anatomy, the breath science, the ethics. This training bridges the gap between casual practice and genuine understanding, giving you a framework that transforms how you approach yoga on and off the mat.
Aspiring Yoga Teachers
You want to teach yoga professionally and need the internationally recognised RYT 200 credential. This programme gives you the certification, the teaching methodology, the practice hours, and the confidence to lead safe, meaningful classes in studios, retreats, corporate settings, or online — anywhere in the world.
Fitness Professionals & Wellness Workers
Personal trainers, physiotherapists, Pilates instructors, and wellness coaches who want to add yoga to their skill set. Understanding alignment, breathwork, and yoga philosophy gives you a deeper toolkit for working with clients and differentiates your offerings in a competitive wellness market.
People in Career Transition
You are leaving a corporate career, taking a sabbatical, or simply ready for a meaningful change. Many of our students are professionals in their 30s and 40s who use the 200-hour training as a reset — a month of discipline, self-study, and purpose. Some go on to teach; others return to their careers with renewed clarity and a daily practice that sustains them.
International Students & Solo Travellers
You are travelling to India specifically for an authentic yoga experience. You want more than a retreat — you want structured education in the birthplace of yoga, guided by teachers who live the tradition. Our international students (from 40+ countries) find community, safety, and a life-changing month in Rishikesh that goes far beyond tourism.
200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Curriculum & Subjects
The 200-hour programme is divided into structured modules that cover every dimension of yoga education. Here is exactly what you will study, practise, and master across your 25 days of training.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga (50+ hours)
The primary style of the programme. You will learn the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series, understanding the correct sequence, drishti (gazing points), bandhas (energy locks), and vinyasa count. Daily morning practice builds strength, flexibility, and discipline. By week three, you will be able to lead the full primary series independently.
- Sun Salutations A & B with correct breath-movement synchronisation
- Standing, seated, and finishing postures of the Primary Series
- Modifications and adjustments for different body types
- Mysore-style self-practice methodology
Hatha Yoga & Vinyasa Flow (40+ hours)
Afternoon sessions focus on Hatha and Vinyasa Flow, complementing the morning Ashtanga practice. You will learn to hold postures with awareness (Hatha) and link them creatively with breath (Vinyasa). This dual approach gives you the versatility to teach multiple styles confidently after graduation.
- Classical Hatha postures with proper alignment and hold times
- Vinyasa sequencing principles — peak pose, wave, and mandala flows
- Creative class design and smooth transitions
- Use of props (blocks, straps, bolsters) for accessibility
Pranayama & Breathwork (20+ hours)
Pranayama is taught as a standalone discipline, not an afterthought. You will learn classical techniques from basic awareness to advanced retention practices, understanding how breath regulation affects the nervous system, energy levels, and mental clarity.
- Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril), Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, Ujjayi
- Kumbhaka (breath retention) and bandha integration
- Contraindications and safe teaching of breathwork
- Pranayama sequencing for classes and personal practice
Yoga Philosophy & Ethics (20+ hours)
Philosophy sessions ground your physical practice in 5,000 years of yogic wisdom. You will study the texts that every serious yoga teacher should know, learning to connect ancient concepts to modern life and teaching.
- Patanjali's Yoga Sutras — the eight limbs and practical application
- Introduction to Bhagavad Gita and Samkhya philosophy
- Yamas, Niyamas, and ethical responsibilities of a yoga teacher
- Karma, Dharma, and the yogic worldview
Meditation & Mantra (15+ hours)
Daily meditation practice is woven into the schedule from day one. You will learn multiple techniques so you can find what resonates with you and guide students through diverse meditation experiences.
- Guided visualisation, body scan, and breath-focused meditation
- Trataka (candle gazing) and Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep)
- Mantra chanting — Om, Gayatri, and traditional opening/closing mantras
- Building a sustainable personal meditation practice
Anatomy & Physiology (20+ hours)
Functional anatomy is taught specifically for yoga — not generic textbook anatomy. You will understand how the body moves in asana, where injuries happen, and how to teach safely for different populations.
- Musculoskeletal system as it applies to yoga postures
- Joint mechanics, range of motion, and common restrictions
- Injury prevention and contraindications for key asanas
- Modifications for pregnancy, back pain, knee issues, and seniors
Teaching Methodology (25+ hours)
This is where you transition from student to teacher. You will learn how to plan, structure, cue, and deliver a complete yoga class — then practise teaching your peers with real-time feedback from senior instructors.
- Class sequencing — warm-up, peak, cool-down, savasana
- Verbal cueing, voice projection, and demonstration techniques
- Hands-on adjustments — when, how, and ethics of touch
- Practice teaching sessions with peer and instructor feedback
- Managing mixed-level classes and building student rapport
Shatkarma & Yogic Cleansing
Traditional yogic cleansing techniques are taught and practised under supervision. These purification practices prepare the body and mind for deeper pranayama and meditation work.
- Jala Neti (nasal cleansing) and Sutra Neti
- Kapalabhati and Agnisara Kriya
- Trataka (concentrated gazing)
- Understanding the role of Shatkarma in traditional yoga practice

Career Paths After Your 200-Hour Certification
The RYT 200 credential opens doors across the global wellness industry. Here are the most common career paths our graduates pursue — many within weeks of completing the programme.
Studio Yoga Teacher
Teach group classes at yoga studios, fitness centres, and gyms. With RYT 200, you meet the minimum qualification required by most studios worldwide. Many graduates begin with 2–3 classes per week and build to a full schedule within months. Average earnings range from $30–$80 per class depending on location and experience.
Private Yoga Instructor
Offer one-on-one or small group sessions tailored to individual needs — prenatal, injury recovery, executive stress management, or senior mobility. Private instruction commands premium rates ($60–$150 per session) and allows you to build deep, long-term client relationships.
Retreat Leader & Workshop Facilitator
Design and lead yoga retreats in destinations like Bali, Portugal, Costa Rica, or right here in Rishikesh. Retreats combine your teaching skills with travel and community building. Many graduates co-lead their first retreat within a year of certification, earning $2,000–$5,000 per retreat.
Online Yoga Teacher
Build a digital yoga business through platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or your own website. Create on-demand classes, membership programmes, or live-streamed sessions. The online yoga market has grown significantly since 2020, and RYT-certified teachers with authentic training are in high demand.
Corporate Wellness Instructor
Deliver yoga and mindfulness programmes for companies as part of their employee wellness initiatives. Corporate yoga is one of the fastest-growing segments, with companies like Google, Amazon, and Deloitte offering regular sessions. Contracts typically pay $75–$200 per session.
Continue to 300-Hour & RYT 500
Many graduates return for the 300-hour advanced training to earn the RYT 500 designation — the highest Yoga Alliance teaching credential. This opens doors to lead teacher trainings yourself, specialise in therapeutic yoga, and command higher rates. Our 300-hour programme starts on the 1st of every month.

How to Reach Our Yoga School in Rishikesh
Rishikesh Yog Nirvana is located in Tapovan, a peaceful neighbourhood on the hillside above the Ganges in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Tapovan is the preferred area for serious yoga students — quieter than Laxman Jhula, surrounded by Himalayan forest, and home to many of Rishikesh's best yoga schools.
By Air — Dehradun Airport
Fly to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (DED), located 35 km from Tapovan — approximately 45 minutes by taxi. Direct flights connect Dehradun to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Alternatively, fly into Delhi (DEL) and take a 5–6 hour drive through the Himalayan foothills, or an overnight bus to Haridwar/Rishikesh. The school arranges complimentary airport pickup from Dehradun on batch start day when booked in advance.
By Train — Haridwar Junction
Haridwar Junction (HW) is the nearest major railway station, 25 km south of Rishikesh. Haridwar is well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi by direct trains. From Haridwar, shared taxis and local buses reach Tapovan in 40–50 minutes. The new Rishikesh railway station (RKSH) is closer but has fewer connections — Haridwar remains the more practical choice for most travellers.
Visa for International Students
Most nationalities can enter India on a Tourist e-Visa valid for yoga study. Apply at the Indian government's e-Visa portal at least 4 weeks before your batch date and select "Recreation/Yoga" as your purpose of visit. The school provides an admission letter upon booking to support your application. For the 25-day programme, a standard 30-day e-Visa is sufficient. Citizens of the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and EU countries are all eligible for e-Visa.
About Tapovan, Rishikesh
Tapovan is a quiet residential neighbourhood located uphill from the Ganges, about 3 km north of the famous Laxman Jhula bridge. Unlike the busier tourist areas of Rishikesh, Tapovan offers a calm, focused environment ideal for yoga study. The area is home to organic cafes, Ayurvedic shops, and several well-regarded yoga schools. Morning walks along the Ganga riverbank, evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, and weekend excursions to Himalayan waterfalls and temples are all part of the Tapovan experience. The combination of Himalayan air, river energy, and yogic community makes Tapovan the most authentic base for a 200-hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh.
