Yoga Teacher Training
500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh
The 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is the highest level of professional yoga education, designed to provide a complete and advanced understanding of yoga practice, philosophy, and teaching methodology. This integrated programme combines both the 200-hour and 300-hour modules, offering a continuous learning experience that builds strong foundations and advanced teaching skills within a single, structured 56-day course.
This advanced yoga training is designed as a complete yoga TTC that supports a long term yogic journey, strengthening yoga knowledge and professional yoga teaching skills. The curriculum covers Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy, anatomy, alignment, and teaching methodology, allowing students to gain a complete and balanced yoga education.
Open to committed beginners and experienced practitioners alike — no prior certification required. New batches begin on the 1st of every month.
This training is structured to support both physical practice and theoretical understanding, helping students refine their discipline, awareness, and clarity as yoga practitioners and teachers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a Yoga Alliance USA recognized RYT 500 certification, enabling them to teach yoga professionally at an international level.
At Rishikesh Yog Nirvana, the 500-hour yoga teacher training course is designed to follow a progressive and disciplined learning approach. The first 25 days cover the 200-hour foundational module — making the programme accessible to beginners who have never done formal yoga training — before advancing into the 300-hour module. By combining both modules continuously, the programme ensures deeper assimilation of knowledge and steady development of teaching skills.
Why Choose Rishikesh Yog Nirvana- Yoga teacher training School
Choosing the right yoga school is one of the most important decisions in a 500-hour yoga teacher training journey. At Rishikesh Yog Nirvana, this programme is designed as a complete, disciplined, and professionally structured training that supports long-term growth in both practice and teaching.
This course goes beyond certification. It is built to help students develop clarity in practice, confidence in teaching, and depth in yogic understanding, while maintaining traditional values and modern teaching relevance.
Integrated 200 Hour + 300 Hour Training Structure
The 500-hour programme at Rishikesh Yog Nirvana combines the 200-hour foundational module and the 300-hour advanced module into a single, well-structured training. This integrated format allows students to progress naturally from basic understanding to advanced application without gaps or repetition.
Instead of treating the two levels as separate experiences, the curriculum is designed to:
- Build strong foundations first
- Gradually introduce advanced concepts
- Strengthen consistency in practice
- Improve retention and application of knowledge
This approach ensures deeper learning and a smoother transition into advanced teaching skills.
Experienced & Dedicated Yoga Teachers
Training at Rishikesh Yog Nirvana means learning from highly experienced, certified yoga teachers who bring years of traditional study and teaching practice into the classroom. Each teacher specializes in specific areas such as:
- Hatha Yoga
- Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
- Vinyasa Flow
- Yoga Philosophy
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Meditation and Pranayama
Teachers focus not only on instruction, but also on personal guidance, helping students understand alignment, adjustments, sequencing, and teaching responsibility with clarity and care.
Balanced Focus on Practice, Theory & Teaching Skills
One of the key strengths of this training is its balanced approach. Equal importance is given to:
- Physical practice (asana, alignment, sequencing)
- Theoretical understanding (philosophy, anatomy, yogic texts)
- Teaching methodology (cueing, class design, communication)
Students are trained to understand what they teach, why they teach it, and how to teach it responsibly, making the transition from student to teacher both confident and grounded.
Yoga Alliance USA Registered Certification (RYT 500)
This programme is registered with Yoga Alliance USA, enabling students to become Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT 500) upon successful completion.
This certification confirms advanced level yoga education, meets international teaching standards, and allows graduates to teach yoga worldwide. It supports professional credibility in studios, retreats, and wellness spaces. After completing your RYT 500, you can progress toward E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 500) status once you accumulate 1,000 teaching hours — the highest individual credential recognised by Yoga Alliance, qualifying you to lead teacher trainings globally and mentor the next generation of yoga teachers.
Small Batch Learning & Personal Attention
We maintains limited batch sizes to ensure every student receives individual attention. This allows teachers to observe each student closely, correct alignment and posture, offer personalized feedback, and support students at different learning speeds. Small group learning creates a focused environment where questions are encouraged and progress is closely guided.
Structured Discipline & Traditional Learning Environment
The training follows a disciplined daily routine, encouraging consistency, focus, and yogic lifestyle habits. From early morning practices to evening meditation sessions, students gradually adapt to a rhythm that supports both physical endurance and mental clarity. This structured environment helps students build self discipline, improve concentration, develop teaching responsibility, and experience yoga as a way of life.
Ongoing Support During & After Training
Learning does not end with certification. Students receive continued guidance and support even after completing the course. Rishikesh Yog Nirvana also offers:
- Advanced yoga programs
- Online yoga courses
- Yoga retreats and workshops
This ongoing connection allows graduates to stay aligned with their teachers and the yoga community as they continue their journey.

The course content is divided into two modules, ensuring clarity, continuity, and depth throughout the training.
200 Hour Module – Foundational Yoga Studies
The 200 Hour module focuses on establishing a strong base in yoga practice, theory, and introductory teaching methodology. This phase helps students understand essential yogic principles and develop disciplined practice habits.
Key areas covered in this module include:

- Yoga nidra and guided relaxation techniques for awareness and rest
This module prepares students with the core understanding required to move confidently into advanced level training.
300 Hour Module – Advanced Yoga Studies
The 300 Hour module builds upon foundational knowledge and focuses on refinement, application, and deeper exploration of yoga practice and teaching. This phase emphasizes clarity, confidence, and responsibility in teaching.
Advanced study components include:
- Extended Ashtanga Vinyasa practice and structured transitions
- Advanced pranayama techniques and breath control practices
- Expanded meditation techniques and awareness training
- In depth study of yogic philosophy and classical texts
- Advanced anatomy with focus on joint mechanics and injury prevention
- Teaching methodology refinement, including adjustments and class management
- Reiki healing and awareness of Reiki healing courses as complementary learning
- Sound healing, mantra chanting and vibration practices
- Restorative yoga, kundalini yoga and Yin Yoga practices for recovery and balance
This module supports students in developing a mature and well rounded teaching approach.
Teaching Practice, Practicum & Assessment
Teaching practice is integrated throughout the training and becomes more intensive during the advanced module. Students are guided step by step from observation to independent teaching under supervision.
- Supervised teaching practicums
- Peer teaching and group sessions
- Verbal instruction and cueing practice
- Observation, correction, and feedback sessions
- Final teaching assessment and evaluation
This structured practicum ensures students are prepared to teach safely and confidently.
Syllabus Standards & Certification Alignment
The syllabus is developed in accordance with Yoga Alliance USA guidelines and fulfills all academic and practical requirements for RYT 500 certification.
- Required contact and non contact training hours
- Balanced coverage of practice, theory, and teaching
- Continuous assessment throughout the course
- Certification eligibility upon successful completion
This comprehensive syllabus ensures students receive a complete education that supports both personal growth and professional teaching readiness.
Complementary Practices in the 500-Hour Programme
The 500-hour training goes beyond asana and teaching methodology. Advanced students need to understand yoga as an interconnected system — where physical practice, energetic anatomy, dietary principles, and therapeutic applications all support each other. These complementary modules give your teaching a depth that sets you apart from teachers with only foundational training.
Ayurvedic Principles & Yogic Lifestyle
Ayurveda and yoga are sister sciences that have been practised together for thousands of years in India. In the 500-hour programme, you study the foundational Ayurvedic concepts that directly influence how you practise and teach yoga.
- Tridosha theory — understanding Vata, Pitta, and Kapha body constitutions and how each responds differently to asana, pranayama, and meditation
- Sattvic diet principles — how the ashram meals in Tapovan are designed around Ayurvedic nutrition to support yoga practice, mental clarity, and digestive balance
- Daily routines (Dinacharya) — traditional Ayurvedic morning and evening practices integrated into ashram life: tongue scraping, oil pulling, nasal cleansing, and mindful eating
- Seasonal practice adaptation — understanding how to modify yoga sequences, pranayama intensity, and dietary choices based on seasons and individual constitution
This is not a full Ayurveda certification — it is a practical introduction that allows you to make informed lifestyle choices and offer dosha-aware class modifications to your future students. The Himalayan setting and traditional ashram meals in Rishikesh make these concepts tangible, not theoretical.
Subtle Body Anatomy — Chakras, Nadis & Prana
While the 200-hour module covers physical anatomy (musculoskeletal system), the advanced 300-hour module within the 500-hour programme introduces the pranic body — the energetic anatomy that classical yoga texts describe in detail.
- The 7 major chakras — location, associated qualities, imbalance symptoms, and how specific asanas, pranayama, and meditations activate or balance each energy centre
- Nadi system — Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna (the three primary energy channels) and their role in pranayama practices like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing)
- Pancha Prana & Pancha Kosha — the five pranas (Prana, Apana, Samana, Udana, Vyana) and the five sheaths (Annamaya through Anandamaya Kosha) as frameworks for understanding the complete human being beyond the physical body
- Kundalini awareness — foundational understanding of dormant energy at the base of the spine, its relationship to advanced pranayama and meditation, and safe, responsible teaching of concepts that should never be trivialised
Studying subtle body anatomy in Rishikesh — surrounded by the Ganga, Himalayan energy, and the living ashram tradition — gives these concepts a context and resonance that textbook study alone cannot provide. Our philosophy teachers, including Swami Shivabrahmananda Saraswati (Arsha Vidya Peetham lineage), teach from direct experience, not just academic knowledge.
Introduction to Yoga Therapy Applications
Yoga therapy is a growing field that applies yoga techniques to specific health conditions and individual needs. The 500-hour programme introduces therapeutic principles so you can safely modify your teaching for students with common conditions.
- Back pain & spinal conditions — understanding lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, and disc issues; which asanas help, which to avoid, and how to cue safely for students with chronic back pain
- Joint mobility & arthritis — gentle sequences for knees, hips, and shoulders; the role of synovial fluid in joint health; when movement helps and when rest is needed
- Stress, anxiety & mental health — pranayama protocols for nervous system regulation (vagus nerve activation); restorative yoga sequencing; Yoga Nidra as a therapeutic tool for insomnia and PTSD recovery
- Prenatal & postnatal modifications — trimester-appropriate asana modifications, contraindicated postures, pelvic floor awareness, and breathwork for labour preparation
- Senior & limited-mobility students — chair yoga adaptations, balance and fall-prevention sequences, and the ethical responsibility of knowing your scope of practice
This module does not certify you as a yoga therapist — that requires separate, specialised training. What it does is give you the awareness, vocabulary, and modification skills to teach inclusively and responsibly to diverse populations. Many of our RYT 500 graduates go on to pursue formal yoga therapy certification (C-IAYT) using this foundation as their starting point.

Frequently Asked Questions About 500-Hour YTT
Common questions about our 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh — from eligibility and structure to certification, fees, and career outcomes.
Who Should Join the 500-Hour Yoga Teacher Training
The 500-hour programme is the most immersive training we offer — 56 days of continuous practice, study, and transformation. It is designed for a specific set of committed students. If any of the following describe you, this is your path.
Complete Beginners Wanting the Full Certification
You have never done formal yoga training but want to go all the way — from absolute beginner to RYT 500 in a single immersive experience. The integrated format means you start from foundational concepts and progress seamlessly into advanced practice without breaks, re-enrolment, or repeating content. By day 56, you hold the highest Yoga Alliance teaching credential available.
Experienced Practitioners Ready for Mastery
You have been practising yoga seriously for years — perhaps teaching informally — and want the depth, structure, and internationally recognised credential to match your commitment. The 500-hour programme takes you well beyond what a standard 200-hour course covers, giving you advanced anatomy, philosophy (Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Samkhya), pranayama retention techniques, and mastery-level teaching methodology.
Career Changers Making a Full Commitment
You are leaving a corporate career, taking a sabbatical, or making a decisive life change. Rather than splitting the training across two trips to Rishikesh, you want to invest 8 weeks once and emerge fully qualified. The 500-hour programme is the most cost-effective and time-efficient path to RYT 500 — one enrolment, one stay at the ashram in Tapovan, one graduation with the highest credential.
International Students Maximising Their India Trip
You are travelling to India specifically for yoga education and want to make the most of your time. Rather than doing 200 hours now and returning later for 300 hours — with two flights, two visas, and two periods of adjustment — the 500-hour programme completes everything in one continuous 56-day stay in Rishikesh. Students from over 40 countries have taken this path at our Tapovan ashram.
Future Yoga School Owners & Lead Trainers
You plan to open your own yoga studio, run retreats, or eventually lead your own teacher trainings. Yoga Alliance requires E-RYT 500 status to become a lead trainer — and this programme gives you the 500 hours of education needed. Combined with teaching experience after graduation, you will qualify to train the next generation of yoga teachers under your own brand.
Yoga Therapists & Wellness Professionals
You work in physiotherapy, mental health, Ayurveda, or holistic wellness and want advanced yoga knowledge to complement your existing skills. The 500-hour curriculum covers anatomy in depth, therapeutic modifications, breath science, meditation techniques, and the philosophical framework needed to integrate yoga meaningfully into clinical or wellness settings.

The 500-hour programme is the most cost-effective and time-efficient path to the highest Yoga Alliance credential. You save $399 compared to enrolling in 200 and 300 hours separately, and you benefit from uninterrupted learning momentum across 56 continuous days at the ashram.
What's Included in the 500-Hour Course Fee
The fee covers your entire 56-day stay at our Tapovan ashram — accommodation, meals, training, materials, excursions, and certification. No hidden charges.
What the Fee Covers
- 56 days of integrated yoga teacher training — both 200-hour and 300-hour modules delivered continuously
- Shared or private ashram accommodation in Tapovan for the full 8-week duration
- Three freshly prepared vegetarian sattvic meals daily (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- All course materials, manuals, anatomy handouts, philosophy readers, and study resources
- Yoga Alliance-aligned 500-hour certificate on successful completion (qualifies for RYT 500)
- Weekend excursions — Ganga riverbank walks, Himalayan waterfalls, temple visits, evening Ganga Aarti
- Complimentary airport pickup from Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport on arrival day
- Wi-Fi access, filtered drinking water, herbal teas, and laundry facilities
What Is Not Included
- International or domestic flights to Dehradun (nearest airport) or Delhi
- Travel or medical insurance — strongly recommended for the 56-day stay
- Yoga Alliance USA registration fee ($50 annual, paid directly to Yoga Alliance after graduation)
- Personal expenses, off-campus dining, or extended stay beyond programme dates
- Standard Tourist Visa fee (required for 56-day stay — e-Visa not sufficient)
- Private room upgrade fee (difference between shared and private rate)
Why the 500-Hour Programme Is Better Value
Enrolling in 200-hour ($899) and 300-hour ($999) separately costs $1,898. The integrated 500-hour programme costs $1,499 — saving you $399. You also save on a second flight, second visa, and second period of adjustment. More importantly, 56 continuous days of immersion produces deeper learning than two separate trips months or years apart.
Career Paths After Your 500-Hour Certification
RYT 500 is the highest Yoga Alliance teaching credential. It opens every door in the yoga industry — from studio teaching to running your own teacher trainings. Here are the career paths our graduates pursue.
Senior Studio Teacher
RYT 500 holders are preferred for senior and lead teaching positions at yoga studios worldwide. You can teach all levels — beginner through advanced — and command higher rates than RYT 200 teachers. Average earnings for RYT 500 instructors range from $50–$120 per class depending on location and experience.
International Retreat Leader
Design and lead yoga retreats in Bali, Portugal, Costa Rica, Greece, or right here in Rishikesh. RYT 500 gives you the credibility and curriculum depth to offer multi-day programmes that attract serious students. Many graduates lead their first retreat within a year, earning $3,000–$8,000 per retreat.
Yoga Teacher Trainer (E-RYT 500 Path)
After accumulating 2,000 teaching hours post-graduation, you qualify for E-RYT 500 — which allows you to lead your own yoga teacher training programmes registered with Yoga Alliance. This is the pathway to opening your own yoga school and training the next generation of teachers under your brand.
Corporate Wellness & Private Instruction
Companies increasingly hire RYT 500 certified instructors for employee wellness programmes. Private clients — executives, athletes, pre/postnatal — pay premium rates ($80–$200 per session) for the expertise that comes with 500 hours of training. Your advanced anatomy, breathwork, and meditation skills differentiate you in this market.
Online Yoga Educator
Build a digital yoga business — membership platforms, YouTube channels, on-demand courses, or live-streamed classes. RYT 500 certified teachers with authentic Rishikesh training credentials stand out in a crowded online space. Your 56 days of immersive training in Tapovan becomes a powerful brand story that resonates with students seeking genuine teachers.
Yoga Therapy & Specialisation
The advanced anatomy, pranayama, and meditation training in the 500-hour programme provides a strong foundation for specialisation in yoga therapy, prenatal yoga, or restorative yoga. Many graduates pursue additional certifications in these areas, using their RYT 500 as the base credential that employers and clients trust.
Experience Life at Our Ashram in Tapovan
See what 56 days of immersive training looks like at Rishikesh Yog Nirvana — from morning Ashtanga practice with Himalayan views to evening meditation by the Ganges in Tapovan, Rishikesh.
How to Reach Our Yoga School in Rishikesh
Rishikesh Yog Nirvana is located in Tapovan, a peaceful neighbourhood above the Ganges in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Tapovan is the preferred area for serious yoga students — quieter than Laxman Jhula, surrounded by Himalayan forest, and ideal for an 8-week immersive stay.
By Air — Dehradun Airport
Fly to Dehradun Jolly Grant Airport (DED), 35 km from Tapovan — approximately 45 minutes by taxi. Direct flights connect Dehradun to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Alternatively, fly into Delhi (DEL) and take a 5–6 hour drive through the Himalayan foothills. The school arranges complimentary airport pickup from Dehradun on batch start day.
By Train — Haridwar Junction
Haridwar Junction (HW) is the nearest major railway station, 25 km south. Well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi by direct trains. From Haridwar, shared taxis reach Tapovan in 40–50 minutes. The Rishikesh station (RKSH) is closer but has fewer connections — Haridwar is the practical choice.
Visa for 56-Day Stay
The 500-hour programme runs for 56 days — longer than the 30-day e-Visa allows. Apply for a standard Tourist Visa (90-day or longer) at your nearest Indian embassy at least 6 weeks before arrival. Select "Recreation/Yoga" as your purpose of visit. The school provides an admission letter upon booking to support your application.
About Tapovan, Rishikesh
Tapovan is a quiet residential neighbourhood located uphill from the Ganges, about 3 km north of Laxman Jhula. Unlike the busier tourist areas of Rishikesh, Tapovan offers a calm, focused environment ideal for an 8-week immersive programme. The area is home to organic cafes, Ayurvedic shops, and well-regarded yoga schools. Morning walks along the Ganga riverbank, evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, and weekend excursions to Himalayan waterfalls are all part of the Tapovan experience. For 500-hour students spending nearly two months in Rishikesh, Tapovan becomes home — and many graduates describe it as the most transformative 56 days of their lives.

There was always someone available to answer my questions or take me wherever I needed to go. I will remember this month for the rest of my life."

"Completing my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Rishikesh Yog Nirvana has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. The teachers are not just experienced and knowledgeable, but genuinely devoted to guiding each student with compassion and clarity. Milda Sakalauskaite
"Good yoga school, dedicated teachers, delicious food, clean and safe environment. It is a small yoga school where they limit group sizes, which in my opinion is very important. This way you get more personal attention. Great location, quiet, but not far from anything."
Sharon Sunil Edke
"One of the best experiences of my life. The teachers are experienced and the energy in the class is very inspiring. I would highly recommend Rishikesh Yog Nirvana to anyone serious about learning yoga in an authentic setting."
